Reaction to the signing

“With Marcelo, we have signed a valuable alternative in the centre-back position that will strengthen out team,
explained 96-sporting director Dirk Dufner. “He brings European experience with him with appearances in the UEFA Europa League as well as in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers, and has also played in the top leagues in the Netherlands, Poland and Brazil.”

“Marcelo was a regular starter at PSV Eindhoven and has the qualities that you look for in a modern-day central defender: consistent tackling, physical presence and good play from the back. He also impressed during the friendly match in the HDI Arena a few weeks ago. I’m delighted he’s decided to join 96,” said manager Mirko Slomka.
