Haggui back on the ballHaggui back on the ball

After a delayed summer holiday our central defender Karim Haggui made his comeback to the club on Monday. On 1. July he captained the Tunisian national team in their first group qualification game for the Africa Cup.

Haggui back at training

Karim Haggui yesterday returned to training with Hannover after his extended holiday. He had been in action until 1. July due to Tunisia’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game, in which his national team went down 0:1 to Botswana in group K.

Under the guidance of conditioning training Edward Kowalczuk, Haggui, as well as under the weather Constant Djakpa took part in light running exercises before joining in with the eleven-on-eleven game later on in the session.

Key player

Slomka is delighted with the return of the Tunisian, who, alongside his role as “key player” within the squad is also “important for the African players”: The coach is now hoping that Haggui’s return to the team’s season preparations can also give a boost to Ivorian Djakpa, who has been littered with back problems in the past and is still not in the best of health.

Tropical heat hindering training

In true hard-working fashion, this morning’s training session took place despite the blistering heat. Head coach Mirko Slomka would happily continue working on the player’s form in the afternoon, but eventually has had to bow to the tropical temperatures outside: The physical exercises set to take place outside at 16:30 will now take place in the weights room at the AWD-Arena instead.
