Looking forward to PortoLooking forward to Porto

Florian Fromlowitz is chomping at the bit. The Reds' 22 year old new arrival has finally recovered from his cruciate ligament tear and is back between the posts. And having left his home town club Kaiserslautern he is now keen to learn as much as possible from German international Robert Enke. But he has professed himself to be confident that at some point "my hour will come".

The charismatic keeper found time at the Bad Pyrmont training camp for an interview with hannover96.com

  • Hello Florian, how are things?

Florian Fromlowitz: "I've had a very positive first week. It's great to be back in the thick of things again after a long time out. And I've got on really well with everyone.“

  • A fitness training camp isn't the best place to socialise is it?

Florian Fromlowitz: "Well it's about a bit of sweat and blood at the moment. We just have to get through this stage together."

Florian Fromlowitz: looking forward to his time at 96

  • So after your serious injury are you now back to full fitness?

Florian Fromlowitz: "After such a bad injury it's normal that I'm still not back to full fitness. But I'm feeling good and I can play without any pain. The reactions and positioning are slowly coming back as well. It's definitely a great feeling to be playing football again."

  • Do you still have to do any extra training?

Florian Fromlowitz: "Yes I still have to do some special sessions in the gym with Edward Kowalczuk to build up my knee. But only two or three times a week.“

  • Robert Enke still hasn't rejoined the squad. Does this give you a better chance to impress the management? And how do you see your role at the club?

Florian Fromlowitz: "I've known all along that I'm number two. Which means it is even nicer to be the number one at the moment. The Porto match will be a real highlight for me. I want to show that I deserved my move here. I want to learn from Robert, but not hide myself away. Sometime in the future it will be my time."

  • Have you had a chance to have a look around Hannover? Settled in yet?

Florian Fromlowitz: "Yes, it's really nice here and I've already found a flat. I know Rosi from the German youth set-up and I've already got to know Basti Schulz very well, which makes things a lot easier."

  • What do you do when you're not playing football??

Florian Fromlowitz: "I like the internet, meetng with friends, going to Cafés – the usual stuff. I'm also a big tennis fan. I've already won a bet with Jiri Stajner when Nadal beat Federer in the Wimbledon final. Nadal really impresses me. It's good that Federer has showed he's not perfect. I've already scored some points with the lads as no-one believed my tip."

  • Do you play tennis yourself?

Florian Fromlowitz: "We played a bit of tennis on holiday among other things, which was good fun. Perhaps I can persuade Hanno [Balitsch] to play a match. I've picked up a few things frm watching Nadal!" [laughs]

  • But your most at home between the posts. How did you become a goalkeeper?

Florian Fromlowitz: "I can't really remember. I think I was in the garden at home when my manager called my mother to ask what number I wanted to play. I said number one, so he put me in goal!"

Fromlowitz has already showed his class in Bad Pyrmont

  • So we have to be grateful to him…

Florian Fromlowitz: "Not just him. Without the supoort of my parents I wouldn't have got where I am today. But it's time to stand on my own two feet. I want to mature - both in goal and in my private life."
