Profile
After an eventful professional career with over 200 appearances in the first and second Bundesliga, Dirk Bremser decided to see out the remainder of his career at VfB Lübeck. In 2001 the club offered him the assistant manager position. Under boss Dieter Hecking, a young team with limited financial resources managed to win promotion from the third division to the second division.
The understanding between the two worked so well that the Hecking-Bremser partnership moved to second division side Alemmania Aachen for the start of the 03/04 season. The success soon rubbed off on the old royal town. Thanks to the duo the club was promoted at the end of the 05/06 season to Germany’s elite. In mid-August 2006 Bremser heeded the call of his "boss" Dieter Hecking and followed him to Hanover.
