Player Profile
Mikael Forssell joined Chelsea FC in 1998, and proceeded to spend periods on loan at Crystal Palace (1999-2001), Borussia Mönchengladbach (February 2003 - June 2003) and Birmingham City (August 2003 - December 2004). After his spell at Birmingham the English side shelled out €4.5 million in the summer of 2005 to bring in Forssell permanently.
A proposed move to Hannover 96 fell through before the 2007/2008 campaign with Birmingham unwilling to let the player go, but with his contract expiring at the end of the season he chose to make a return to Bundesliga football with Hannover 96.
During his time at Borussia Mönchengladbach Forssell scored seven goals in sixteen appearances. His performances helped Gladbach maintain their Bundesliga status and saw him voted the twelfth best player in the league in 2003.
Mikael has been a regular for the Finnish national team since his international debut in 1999.
