Player Profile
Schlaudraff made his Bundesliga debut for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 2002/2003 season, but then picked up a serious virus infection that sidelined him for over a year. After a long recovery process Jan finally celebrated his comeback in autumn 2004. But the striker couldn't break into Gladbach's first team, and was eventually loaned out to second division outfit Alemannia Aachen in January 2005 having only made ten appearances for Borussia.
It took Schlaudraff a while to establish himself at Aachen, but in the 2005/2006 season he was a leading light as his goals helped fire the team to promotion. The following season he was their top scorer with eight goals in 28 matches, but couldn't prevent Aachen's relegation.
In the summer of 2007 Schlaudraff chose to accept an offer from Bayern Munich, with the Bavarian club paying €1.2 for his services. He rejected an offer from Werder Bremen. The start of his Bayern career was hampered by a back injury, and with competition for places fierce he was restricted to a handful of appearances over the course of the season.
In summer 2008 Jan felt it was time to move on, with Hannover the chosen destination. Schlaudraff signed a contract until 2012.
