Player Profile
Jan Rosenthal doesn’t have the fondest memories of his first encounter with professional football. In March 2005 the exceptionally talented midfielder ruptured a cruciate ligament in his first ever professional appearance in the “mighty” Reds’ 10-0 friendly victory over Neunkirchen, which put the then 18 year old out of action for months. However at the start of the season the U19 national player was included in the full squad.
Hanover’s great hope worked hard for months on end with fitness coach Edward Kowalczuk, to get fit again.
By August 13th 2006 “Rosi” had made sufficient progress to see his first Bundesliga action in the home game against Werder Bremen. A further 28 appearances followed in the course of the 2006/2007 season, in which the talented midfielder scored six goals. He notched up his first goal in Schalke and had three assists. All in all it was a more than satisfactory debut season in Germany’s top league and Jan wants to build on that in the years to come.
