Player Profile
Florian Fromlowitz knows that he was "only" signed to be Robert Enke's number two in the 2008/2009 season, but the Kaiserslautern-born shot-stopper is widely regarded as a big talent. He came through home-town club 1. FC Kaiserslautern's famous goalkeeper school and trained under cult keeper Gerry Ehrmann, who developed the likes of Tim Wiese and Roman Weidenfeller.
Despite his tender years, Fromlowitz has already experienced plenty of highs and lows in his fledgling career. His Bundesliga debut came on 25th February 2006, replacing the injured Jürgen Macho shortly before half-time in Kaiserslautern's 2-0 win away to Mainz. Florian retained his place in the side for the remaining eleven games of the season, but despite his eye-catching performances was unable to prevent the Red Devils relegation.
Fromlowitz then failed to make a single 2nd Bundesliga appearance in the 2006/2007 season, only managing 20 starts for the reserve side. "FF" was to turn this around at the start of the 2007/2008 season though as he moved ahead of Macho in the pecking order, only to suffer a terrrible curciate ligament tear ten games into the new term. This cruelly ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.
Fromlowitz has made eight appearances for the Germany under 21s.
